Darlington County queens get through day one of preliminaries for Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen
Miss Darlington 2008 Brittany Robinson, Miss Society Hill 2008 Merideth Watford and Miss Darlington Teen Anna Mills Polatty completed day one of preliminary competetions at the Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen pageant held in Spartanburg. Both Robinson and Watford competed in the lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit competition while Polatty competed in the physical fitness competition. The three did not win the individual competitions but made good showings. Winners for day one in the Miss competition included Miss Lexington Anna Perry in swimsuit. Perry, who is a native of Florence, is also a graduate of Trinity Collegiate School, which located in Darlington County. Perry wore a two-piece blue bathing suit. Talent winner in the Miss division was Miss Greenville County Brittany Sweeney who performed a comedy monologue. In the teen division the physical fitness winner was Miss Upstate Teen Taylor Fitch while the talent winner was Miss Middle Tyger Teen Erin Frost who performed a clogging routine to Michael Jackson's "Bad". All three Darlington county queens will continue competition today with talent.

Local queens leave for Spartanburg to compete for state titles
Miss Darlington 2008 Brittany Robinson, Miss Darlington Teen 2008 Anna Mills Polatty and Miss Society 2008 Hill Merideth Watford are all on their way to Spartanburg to compete for two of the state's most coveted titles. The quest for Anna Mills Polatty will begin tomorrow June 28 as she competes in the interview competition. Brittany Robinson and Merideth Watford will both have interview on June 29.
Preliminaries for all three girls will begin on Tuesday with physical fitness. On Wednesday all three will compete in talent and on Thursday all three will compete in evening gown and on-stage questions.
After the preliminary competitions, all scores will be added up and a top 10 for Miss South Carolina Teen and a top-10 for Miss South Carolina will be announced on Saturday, July 5.
The entire competition will be held at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium.
The winner of Miss South Carolina will advance to the Miss America Pageant while Miss South Carolina Teen will advance to the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant in August in Orlando, Fla.
